Traditionally we have had two choices, Stainless Steel or Die Cast Aluminium. Both have different characteristics in 3 and 4 blade configurations. Whilst Stainless Steel propellers provide outstanding performance levels, they are expensive to purchase and repair. Die Cast Aluminium propellers are the industry standard and are generally fitted to most new vessels, they provide good performance levels at reasonable prices.
DEVELOPMENTS
There is now a new choice on the Australian market, Piranha Propellers are manufactured in the United States from a composite material called Verton. Verton has a tensile strength of 42,000 PSI which is a 15% stronger than die cast aluminium which means they provide performance standards that rival the more expensive Stainless Steel propellers and out perform they alloy counterparts.
